In about two weeks I’m off to Calgary and Edmonton to see Tool. It should be a lot of fun with some great music. For me to be able to go, I have to not take my EDO this week. By saving this weeks EDO, I’ll be taking off Thursday, August 24th instead so I can drive up to Calgary for the concert. Luckily, that holiday on Monday already made this a four day week so I’m not really missing out on much. After I get back from Tool, I have more concerts. September 19th, Red Hot Chili Peppers in Saskatoon, and then October 8th, Rolling Stones in Regina.

Stupid Sasktel
Since Monday, Sasktel has been providing very bad internet service. Never in the past have I ever had problems with my internet. It seems like everyone in Emerald Park/White City has been having problems with their Sasktel internet. I sure hope they fix their problems and get everything straightened out soon since this is ridiculous. In today’s world, the internet is just as important to people at the telephone and electricity. I’m just glad I didn’t have some school assignments that needed to be submitted or anything else important going on.
Upcoming Long Weekend
Next weekend is going to be a long weekend! I don’t plan on doing anything at all so I should count on getting nothing done. Maybe I’ll watch some more movies. I’ve bought quite a few movies recently, a lot of previously viewed ones from Rogers. These include : Pink Panther, Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Dirty Deeds, Melinda and Melinda, The Ringer, as well I have also recently bought V for Vendetta, and The Benchwarmers. I’ll have to think of something else to do on the weekend since I have already finished watching all of them.
Second Rolling Stones Concert for Regina
With great fanfare, the Rolling Stones have announced that they will play a second show in Regina, Saskatchewan, Friday October 6. This comes on the heels of October 8th show selling out in minutes on Monday. Again, the Rider season ticket holders and Rolling Stones fan club members will be able to purchase tickets early and for everyone else tickets go on sale Friday, August 4th.
Lack of Results
Last night our soccer team played really good but came up short in the end, losing 3 to 2. We took an early lead and were ahead 1 to 0 at the half. In the second the other team came out charging and scored to tie things up. Then they took the lead with a penalty shot goal on a somewhat debateable call. Our team continued to play strong but not having any subs really started to take its toll on our overall team energy. They scored a chip shot from far out that just dropped inside the crossbar for their third goal. With time running out, we managed to get a second goal but it was not enough. Our next game will be next Monday at 6pm.
Busy Monday
Today should be a busy day. I have a soccer game after work at 5:45 which could be interesting. As well today, the Rolling Stones tickets are going on sale at 10am this morning. I’ll give it a shot and try to pick up a pair of tickets but I won’t be too disapointed if I don’t get anything.
*Update* – I ended up getting one ticket. I’ll probably give it to my dad so he can go. I’m not sure if he’ll be excited to go or not since he’ll be going alone. If he doesn’t want to go, I’m sure there’ll be a market for them.
Office Renovations
Well, the 11th floor of my building is being renovated. I am on the 14th floor and that doesn’t make me safe from the smells of adhesives. The smells are very strong and some areas have gone home for the day. So far, I’m just a little “light headed” and haven’t received the word to go home, although I’m sure that will probably change soon. I imagine that I will be expected to work at home but since my webpage stuff is only available here. Knowing me, I’ll keep working through it and eventually the air will clear up.
Weekend
Tomorrow will be my EDO Friday so I’ll be able to sleep in and rest. After playing soccer last night, when I really shouldn’t have, I can use to take a day of rest. Saturday morning I am working bright and early, luckily I’m off early enough so I should be able to catch the Rider game. I have a feeling they are going to do well and most likely win this time. The past couple of games they seemed to control the entire game only giving up a few “big” plays. If they could limit the gains on these big plays they would be an amazing team. They do really well on first downs normally causing a loss. Their problem comes in when the defense is up against second and long. I don’t know how many times they were let a big play off of that. I think if its second and long play zone defense and make sure nothing is caught; they always want to rush the quarterback. Oh well, I’m not a football expert.
Hurting
Yesterday we lost a very close game to REU Under 18, 2 to 1. It was so close in fact they only scored the last goal to go ahead in the last minute of the game. I thought I played well but seemed to be tackled way too often. My right foot has been bruised in three different location. There is a bruise on the top of the foot, probably caused by me powering through someone. There is another bruise on the inside of the foot which is probably just from getting kicked. The worst bruise is on the heal area, caused by a slide tackle in the closing seconds of the game. I hate that team and am glad we don’t have to play them again. Our next game is a makeup game on Wednesday, should be interesting depending on if I can walk by then.
2006-2007 NHL Schedule Released
Hockey is back! Well not quite yet, but the regular season will start October 4th. The Toronto Maple Leafs will be in action and I’ll be watching the game. I am in sports denial recently, after the World Cup finished there hasn’t been anything on tv to watch. Hopefully the Leafs will put on a good show this season with their new coach and a relatively unchanged line-up. They have gotten younger so that is always a good thing in the new NHL. It seems weird that Mats Sundin is the oldest player on the team now.
