Tomorrow night in Saskatoon will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. This concert was months in the planning. In the beginning we had been saying 919, and right now its 918. The concert itself should be really good. This will be a different type of concert than my last couple; System of a Down, and Tool. Nick will drive to the concert, and Ryan from the Z will accompany us as a passenger. Should be fun times. I wonder if they do pat downs at the door??

New Car Time
It is almost time for me to get a new vehicle. I have been driving “Amy’s car” for the past while now since my old car is pretty much junk. Since Amy is going for her license next week, and seems to think she is going to get it, I have to start looking. I am hoping to get a new/newer car instead of a cheap old car. I’m more interested in the small car/good fuel economy market. As well, I will not be paying more than $20,000. So with those rules I am setting out on my research project for a new car. Some early names that are around include, Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, and Toyota Yaris. My goals for the car are just transportation, I don’t plan using it for racing or anything so I’m not concerned with having excessive amounts of power.
The Big Z
Next week at the big Z, I don’t have any shifts. While this isn’t the first time, it does seem rather odd. My availability is just Sunday and Saturday so I don’t really expect to work both, but when I don’t work either I feel like something has been taken from me. Well, I’m sure that the management feel like they gave me a vacation, I don’t really need vacations unless I ask for them. An example is going to be in a couple weeks with the Rider game where I will need the afternoon/evening off. Speaking of not working next week; it was almost a sad day when Julia Turkheim announced she was quitting. But then out of nowhere, she has now decided that she will stay on and keep working some weekends and maybe a few nights. Work has been fun, I get to relax and enjoy myself.
And the Winner Is…
Lukas Rossi was selected as the lead singer of Supernova last night. In a night filled with good performances one star out shown the others. When Tommy made the final say, he mentioned they had chosen the person with highest number of votes. Since I am a Lukas fan, I think I probably voted 30 times last night, not that much but I still feel like contributed somewhat. After the show the rockstar message board was going crazy. A lot of people don’t seem to like Lukas and they were fairly vocal. Some of them being babies and saying they are going to try to return their concert tickets and they would never listen to any supernova song in the future. Then others are saying that Lukas would bring out a goth crowd to the concerts, but I think that Lukas and Dilana would have brought out the same crowd so I don’t get that point. Some other people said that Lukas had more votes because Canada has more high speed internet throughout the country, and it showed Canada’s superiority not only on the stage but with our internet technology. Overall, I’m happy with their choice, obviously.
Rock Star Supernova
Tonight, Tommy Lee and crue will pick a winner for the hit reality show, Rock Star : Supernova. I have been watching the show intently since week 2 and have been very interested. I am not normally a fan of musical reality shows like the Idol shows. This show has been slightly different with less focus on the singing quality and more focus on entertainment value. This has resulted in a show that is a lot more interesting to watch and now that we are down to four singers, the quality of the singing is also great. My favorite singer has been Toronto born Lukas Rossi. He has a unique style and voice, and he isn’t afraid to change things up. At first it had appeared his range was somewhat limited but with great performances like in Creep, he has shown he can hit a very wide range. One of my favorite songs has got to be his original song, Headspin. If anyone has the ability, I’d make sure to check it out. He originally sang it with his old band, Rise Electric. The finale will be on tonight on CBS or Global, so check it out.
Season Ender
Last night the White City NBD soccer team played an overall good game. We played short a player for most of the game and didn’t have the benefit of substitutes. Other than that, the final score was 3 – 1. They scored at the very end of the game so it could basically be looked at as a 2 to 1 game. We had plenty of chances but couldn’t capitalize on our shots. I thought we could have really used my brother Ben, the keeper, but he is gone to Alberta for school. With him in the lineup we could have had more offensive production from Reese. The game basically summarized our season though. We lost, didn’t really have very good turnout, but played hard with what we had. Next up, indoor.
In it for the Long Term
In hockey news today, Rick DiPietro, goalie for the New York Islanders signed a 15year $67.5 million contract. This contract is very long for NHL terms. Probably the longest ever in fact. That is defintely a long term commitment, not only by the team but the player. I don’t know if I were in the same situation if I could make the same decision. I think I would must prefer the shorter contracts. That way it would push me to work harder since I won’t be guaranteed anything once the contract is done. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=177223&hubname=nhl
Upcoming Events
During the next couple weeks I plan to be rather busy. I have work all the time, and then the night classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. On Thursday September 14th, the CSSS is having a beer and pizza so I will make sure to stop by there after work. Next week, September 19th, I’ll be in Saskatoon for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert. Then September 23rd there will be a CSSS games night. Thats another event I want to get to. September 26th, will be the season premiere for The Office. It should be a great season opener that hopefully will answer some questions and tie up some loose ends. I’m sure I will be forgetting some things but thats alright.
Friday
I’m working today . . surprise surprise. I need to bank my EDO for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert on Sept. 19th, so I’ll just have to live through a longer work week. Good thing we had that holiday on Monday or I’d really be complaining. In other news around the globe, the shuttle launch this morning was scrubbed. They will try it again tomorrow. I’ll make sure to watch it, since I always watch the shuttle launches.
Something funny I saw; the Wolf Big Breakfast show with Chris and Balzy had a wood chipper outside today. They were supposidly chipping anything Bombers or Huskies. They made it seem like this was actually happening, by saying “I’m putting a bomber flag into the chipper”. From my vantage point in the office I could see Balzy putting stuff into the chipper, but it was just old branches. Not banjos or flags! Bunch of liers, haha. It was still interesting radio though.
Labour Day Classic
The Saskatchewan Roughriders pulled through bigtime with a huge win over the Winnipeg Bluebombers. I had a great time at the game and even though our seats were high up, it proved to be a good view of the field. I forgot how different a game feels live compared to on television. There is so much energy flowing through the crowd although being ahead and winning sure helped that out. I was surprised that they managed to get over 30,000 at the field. It sure seems like more of an achievement compared to the normal sellouts of 29,000. Hopefully they can pull off another win in Winnipeg and keep on their winning streak.
